It feels like it has been eons since I blogged! We’re in Croatia for vacation and I didn’t want to type until I felt like I had something to say, but you’re probably wondering if I ever have anything to say!
Anyway, it’s been quite fun and a busy vacation. We started off in Dubrovnik and now we’re in Baska Voda. We’re staying in the region called Central / Southern Dalmatian coast. Split will the last and final stop.
The team back in New York is getting into the swing of marathon training season and I’m really feeling like I’m missing out on the runs and bonding. Thank goodness (or unfortunately) for the fact that you can’t go anywhere in the world now without being connected, so I can follow what’s been going on online.
I’ve tried to fit in some runs myself here, though definitely not the same mileage as I would be at home. Croatia is hilly and I seem to have left my running groove at home. Though I’ve run 4 times so far since being here, no run has been more than slightly over 4 miles. I’ve also been trying to plank and some light core work while on the beach, by the way, rock beaches, as opposed to sand beaches, are really tough to plank on!
I’m really trying hard to not beat myself up over these tough runs. As a type-A personality, I’m taking everything mentally and it’s really affecting the next day’s run. Before I left for vacation I had read a number of articles (here is one in particular) about running on vacation, how to not let it rule your plans, but also manage to not lose too much of your fitness level, perhaps it’s time to re-read them!
Anyway, still some days left here on the coast of Croatia, off to enjoy! Have a great week!
How do you manage to run while on vacation? Any tips would be greatly appreciated and I totally need the boost!
