Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic evening full of great cheer and celebration.
There is a lot of pressure to come up with goals in just one day, maybe I should have thought about this earlier?!
This will be an evolving list of my health and fitness goals for 2015, some are no-brainers, and some will need more work and planning:
—Run an international race. Good thing London is in April!
—Set a personal record in the marathon, and other distances, but the marathon is the focus.
—Get involved in other health and fitness projects outside of marathon training – coaching and other certifications, giving back to the running community through volunteer efforts.
—Continue to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s Disease and other charities (like Age UK) through running.
—Continue to try experiment with a variety of cross training classes including Mile High Run Club, Prime Cycle, Local Barre, and new ones to be determined (I welcome any suggestions).
—Meet new people through running including running with different groups and teams – in fact, I started on this goal before the new year when I ran my first speed workout with the Dashing Whippets Running Team (more to come on this and my training plan for London).
—Continue to eat healthy, pre-pack snacks, and cook at home more often.
—And remembering that training does not have to be perfect – it is okay to be flexible, sleep in every so often, take a sick day, or just spending time with friends and family without a strict schedule.
Shalane Flanagan put it best with the quote, “Don’t let fear decide your future.” So if there is anything I focus on for 2015, it is to step out of my comfort zone.
