Happy Global Running Day!

img_5472What is Global Running Day?

“Global Running Day is a day for people around the world to celebrate the joys of running. Participation is easy—just pledge to take part in some type of running activity on June 1, 2016. It can be a solo lap around the block, a long run with friends, or even a game of tag with your kids. The key is to share your passion for the sport and inspire others to get moving.” (Source: GlobalRunningDay.org)

img_5475Despite how slowly I have been moving in the 8th month of pregnancy, I made sure to get out there and at least run/walk today to enjoy one of my favorite paths but to share my passion for the sport. In honor of today, I wanted to share my post from last year on why I run and how I got started with the sport. Running never came easy for me, especially distance running and I am grateful each day for the ability to put one foot in front of the other.

I hope no matter the distance or speed, that today, you try to get outside for a run! Use this time to think about all of those that have inspired you to lace up your sneakers and enjoy the time with yourself and/or friends and family. And if you get the chance, check out Brooks Global Run Happy Report for this year. There are some really cool facts in there about this awesome sport. Happy reading and happy running!

Happy Global Running Day!

We’re back in Hoboken!

252a880a-d8db-4bd1-a4e1-cbfe3ad1e593And with that, we’re officially moved and back in Hoboken. We moved last Monday and it was nice that Josh was able to take off most of the week off so we could unpack and get settled. We’re about 95% of the way there — just waiting on some furniture items to finish the kitchen, setting up the baby’s room, and going through some things that have moved with us over and over. Since coming back into town, we’ve been able to enjoy most of our favorite things again and are feeling right at home!

img_5385On our first night back, we had dinner at the food trucks on Pier 13 and enjoyed frozen yogurt from 16 Handles, which while not specific to Hoboken was a place we frequented a bit since we used to live upstairs from it. We went back to the pier for Food Truck Frenzy, an event we actually never made it to before but are so glad we were able to finally go. There were over 15 different food trucks on the pier and Sinatra Drive. The atmosphere is very casual and how you can beat watching the NYC skyline while enjoying all the yummy food?

img_5386img_5403On the exercise front, I’ve already been to two Local Barre classes (and a short run on the treadmill, it was too hot for pregnant me to run outside this weekend) and boy did I miss this workout. I am looking forward to attending more classes in the upcoming weeks especially since I have an unlimited month and getting out for a run along the waterfront when the weather cools down (or I can get up earlier).

As for the apartment, we used the baby’s room as our storage unit when we first moved in but have since been able to clear some of that out and put it in her closet! It’s a good thing baby’s don’t need that much closet space.

img_5463Our kitchen was even in good enough shape to cook dinner for the first time yesterday! And I made lunch today too. While I have enjoyed eating out at all of our favorite restaurants again, I do miss a home cooked meal.

And finally, we did get to enjoy the outdoors this weekend with a short trip to the pool.
